Beach Wedding Songs

Beach wedding songs can really come from any genre because in general, beach weddings are much more relaxed and informal and therefore, anything goes.

But, for a wedding on the beach, you do want to choose songs that are less serious, more chilled and that convey that carefree summer mood.

It also depends on where in your wedding you plan on using the songs of course. You would need something a little slower and more somber for your walk down the aisle and something upbeat and joyful for your recessional.

Then another upbeat song for your grand entrance and maybe something a slower, more romantic number for your first dance. Whatever type of music you choose, make sure it it has the feel of summer and pretty lyrics that speak of the beach, the sea and of course, of love...

#1 Better Together - Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson has really made his fair share of great beach wedding songs and he deserves a place on every seaside wedding playlist! I really had a hard time choosing between his songs Better Together, Bubble Toes and Angel.

All are great choices, but I settled on Better Together simply because it is so versatile. It is upbeat yet romantic at the same time, and if you think the original is slightly overused, then have a listen to the duet version with Paula Fuga below or the Cuban version below that:

#2 Grey To Blue - Xavier Rudd

Xavier Rudd is really a phenomenon to watch and listen to. He plays multiple instruments on his own and his lyrics and songs are enlightening and touching but with a carefree edge to them.

This one is a great, upbeat and happy love song and is perfect for a beach wedding:

#3 Lucky - Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat

Of course Jason Mraz with his funky hats and uplifting songs need a place on a list of beach wedding songs. But which song do you choose? He actually has a few songs that would make perfect wedding songs including I'm Yours and I Won't Give Up, but I settled on this duet with Colbie Caillat as it actually mentions the sea...

#4 Say Hey (I Love You) - Michael Franti & Spearhead

This upbeat reggae song is just so infectious and it will have you singing along in no time! It really spells out the words "I love you" and is just absolutely perfect for those beach wedding songs where you need a little bit of a celebratory mood like your recessional, grand entrance or just for dancing.

#5 Dance Like Nobody's Watching - Donavon Frankenreiter

The mood of this wonderful little song is lighthearted, but the words are true and wedding perfect. Take a listen and fall in love with it. It is perfect for a first dance or even to cut the cake or for a last dance.

#6 Wouldn't It Be Nice - The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys make for classic beach wedding playlist material and no playlist for a seaside wedding will be complete without at least one of their hits on it.

This is a great little love song with a happy feel to it.

#7 She's Royal - Tarrus Riley

This is a really lovely little reggae love song. It really tells the story of a man worshiping his "queen".

A great song to use somewhere in your beach wedding even if it is just in the background as it really has that summer, island vibe about it and the words are also really nice.

If you have not heard of Angus and Julia Stone, then do yourself a favor and have a listen to this song.

With lyrics like this, who can argue that this is not a perfect beach wedding song:

This is a very cute little song that is simple and sweet. If this describes your relationship then have a listen to it. It is quite short though at only 1:39

If you don't think it is suitable for any of your special songs, then consider including it in your background music.
