Classical Wedding Processional Songs
Dum Dum De Dum... Almost every little girl dreams of the moment when this classical wedding processional song will play as she walks down the aisle to her groom. This is the most well known processional song and is called Lohengrin and was composed by Richard Wagner. However, many people know it only as "Here Comes The Bride". Often it is only the bride and her father who will walk down the aisle to the processional music, but in many traditional weddings they will be preceded by the flower girls, groomsmen and bridesmaids. In this case you can use two different classical wedding processional songs. Perhaps choose a classical song both you and the groom like for the rest of the wedding party and then play the traditional Lohengrin (Here Comes The Bride) as the bride comes down the aisle. Usually there will be a pause just before the bride walks as the priest will ask everybody to stand. This is a very special moment when all the friends and family are standing and turn to watch the bride walk down the aisle.
If you are having a very traditional wedding (church ceremony, big white dress, etc etc) then it is best to stick to traditional classical wedding processional songs. These classical pieces are all beautiful and you do have more of a choice than just "Here Comes The Bride". The best thing is to listen to all of them and to choose the ones both of you like. You can also opt for live versions of the traditional classical wedding processional songs. Do you have a family member or a friend who can play an instrument? This would add a very personal touch to a traditional wedding. If you would like to use classical music for your wedding processional, but you don't want to use songs that everyone else always uses, you can also opt for a few non-traditional classical wedding processional songs, or opt for the traditional songs with a little twist. Perhaps an upbeat, modern version. Below are a few ideas of the traditional, non traditional and the traditional with a little twist.
